About 2 Sundays ago, I ventured out to Derby Land in Let’s Run Park located west of Busan to check out a pop-up market called “Youth Fun Market”. I had nothing else to do that day and my morning was introduced and ruined with a headache. Little did I know that I would be entering a horse racing track. This immediately sends a rush of memories reminding me of my hometown as I lived not too far from a horse racing track (If you’re familiar with the Triple Crown races, I lived not far from Pimlico). Upon entering the park, I’m greeted with children frolicking, multiple vendors, delicious food, and a live band. This definitely surprised me because I didn’t know what to expect upon arrival. There was so much to take in that I had to split the market into sections to make sure that I didn’t miss anything. While I was taking everything in, I was able to talk to some of the vendors (not many) (English and Korean mix). They were excited that a market like this could be setup since it was a one of a kind. One thing that stood out to me was the amount of families that showed up to enjoy themselves and support the vendors. Towards the end of the afternoon, a lot of the vendors shut down early because they had sold out of everything. There was also a live band that played in various locations in the park throughout the afternoon. When it came time to deciding what to eat, I didn’t know what to choose (there was a variety of food). Everything looked very delicious. They will be setting up again in May on the 14th, 21st, and the 28th from 11am-5pm. Go and check it out if you have time and are in the area.
