악녀 or The Villainess is out in theaters! It was directed by Jung Byung-Gil and stars Kim Ok-Bin and Shin Ha-Kyun. The movie follows Ok-Bin’s character whose father was murdered right in front of her. From there, she is raised by gangsters then a secret organization.

While the action could have been great, due to the camera, it was really hard to tell what was happening. The camera was always moving and very shaky throughout most of the film. At times, it made me feel quite nauseous.

Then there is only action at the very beginning and the very end with little spurts of action in the middle. The second act of the film comes to almost a stop as the story drags and even made me become uninterested in the characters.

Kim Ok-Bin does a great job with her character and seems like she could really do everything that is in the film, just too bad the directer didn’t give us a better glimpse of all that she and the other actors did. The motorcycle scene was particular impressive but still, I wish I could have seen more of it.

Also, Sung Joon was certainly the weakest link in the film. His character didn’t really bring anything to the story and when he was on screen, he was more distracting than anything.

It’s a shame as this film seemed to have a lot of potential but failed to impress. If you are thinking of watching a movie this week, you may want to skip out on The Villainess. Just watch it when it comes out on TV and you can just watch the action sequences.

If you have watched it, I’d love to hear what you thought? I’ve never been a huge fan of the whole shaky camera style of shooting so I could have been too harsh. Either way, let me know what you think.
