[ENG] Hi, world! Daniela here. This week I want to talk about a more serious topic: how the mountain tension between North Korea and the United States is affecting those of us living in South Korea. Kim Jung Un and Donald Trump have (stupidly and irresponsibly) been threatening each other back and forth. North Korea threaten to bomb Guam, the U.S. threatened “fire and fury” onto North Korea. With all of these words flying back and forth, are we, the expats living in Korea and Koreans, scared of being caught in the middle? The answer is NO. Even though western media talks about a potential World War III or nuclear war, there’s just no sign of that in South Korea. Life continues as normal and we’re simply not worried. In this video, I explain why the lack of movement from the American side (military troops in the Pacific have stayed where they are, families haven’t been evacuated) tells us that’s things are really not that bad. [ESP] ¡Hola, mundo! Es Daniela. Esta semana les quiero hablar de algo un tanto más serio: el efecto que ha tenido la tensión entre Corea del Norte y los Estados Unidos en los que vivimos acá en Corea del Sur. Kim Jung Un y Donald Trump se han estado amenazando (de una manera muy estúpida e irresponsable) el uno al otro. Corea del Norte amenazó a bombardear a Guam y los EE.UU. amenazaron “fuego y furia” para Corea del Norte. Con todas estas palabras, ¿Nosotros, los extranjeros viviendo en Corea y los coreanos, estamos asustados de quedar en el medio? La respuesta es NO. Aunque la media occidental habla del potencial de una Tercera Guerra Mundial o de guerra nuclear, sinceramente no hay señal de eso en Corea del Sur. La vida continua como siempre y nosotros simplemente no estamos preocupados. En este video les explico por que la falta de acción de parte del lado americano (las tropas militares en el Pacífico se han mantenido donde están, las familias americanas no han sido evacuadas) nos dice que las cosas no están tan mal. ¡Espero que lo disfruten!
