Hi, I’m Tobias, a Youtube content creator located close to Gangnam in Seoul. I’m originally from the UK, but ’ve lived in Korea for roughly 3 years now, and it’s been great!
In my time here, I’ve tried many different activities. One of the things I’ve tried here that I never saw in the UK was going to animal cafes. There are many cat cafes and dog cafes and even a sheep café. Last weekend, I went with a friend who often visits Korea to a very exotic animal café – the Meerkat Park meerkat café in Hoehwa, in north-east Seoul.
The cafe is located here: https://goo.gl/maps/iYA3ugra5uj
This is their facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/meerkatpark/
It’s on the 6th floor of the building (you have to take the lift to the 5th floor and walk up.) Drinks are not cheap, but this way the entry fee is included in the price. You can choose from a wide variety of drinks including coffees, lattes, and fruit-based drinks.
You’ll buy a drink, and the staff will let you know when it’s your turn to go inside the meerkat pens to play with the animals.
The meerkats are quite calm but also very curious. They tried to chew my camera stand and the button on my cap. It’s better to come early on so they have plenty of energy! The cafe has a few rules for how to handle them, including not to pick them up and cuddle them too hard. Treat them nice and gently and everything will be fine!
I fully recommend you go if you’ve got a few hours to spend! It’s a great thing to show to friends and family members visiting Korea, and it also makes a nice activity to go to for a date.
