Here is a recap of the wonderful people I got to go to the Hwacheon Ice Fishing Festival(얼음나라 화천산천어축제) 1.13.18 . Hwacheon Sancheoneo Ice Festival takes place at Hwacheon county in Gangwon-do with plenty of snow and ice, perfect for a winter getaway. Since 2003, the festival has been visited by a million people, making this festival more joyful. Varied festival programs include ice-fishing, ice sledding, bobsled, and other things to see and participate in.

At this festival you can do many things like ice fish, ice skate, play ice soccer, boot hockey, sliding and more! Also, you can eat the fish you catch right on the spot!
Did I mention that you foreigners have their own zone where they can fish and catch up 3 fish that they can eat! Your first fish is free too!
One of the most exciting things to do is the hand fishing. Make sure to reserve your time so that you will secure your spot! Make sure you are prepared to be cold in water trying to catch fish with your hands!
One last thing you do while you are there is check out the indoor ice sculptures. Korea claims that this is the largest indoor ice sculpture area in the world! Inside you will see many beautiful sculptures including a giant Korean flag and other Korean looking images. There is also an indoor ice slide. Make sure to slide on your feet as you will slide faster into the ball pit!
