Living in Korea has always been something that I’ve wanted to do since I was a little kid. I remember watching dramas or Korean news with my mom and having the thought of “what would it be like to live in Korea?” Fast forward to today, I’ve finally made a decision to move to South Korea to make that desire come true.
In this video, I go over 10 reasons why I’m moving to Korea. Though there are many more reasons I can share, I feel like these 10 reasons can sum up why I decided to make the move. I grew up in the United States most of my life, having been born to an African-American father in the military, and a Korean mother. Growing up as a bi-racial child has been rewarding, especially having been exposed to both sides. My mom especially, has had a tremendous impact in shaping who I am culturally, because she raised me to understand the nuances of Korean culture. All of this has played an important role in my desire to go to Korea.
Some of the reasons why I’m moving to Korea have to deal with the food, language, and social relationships. I love Korean food and there’s just nothing like the variety, quality, and affordability of the food in Korea. I certainly learned this when I visited Korea. As far as language, though I would consider myself conversationally fluent, there are still many areas that I look forward to improving once I’m in Korea. As far as social relationships, I look forward meeting new people (Koreans and foreigners) and developing new friendships.
As you watch the video, my hope is that you get to know me a little better and also find value from something I share. I hope you enjoy and thanks for watching!
